The blog is dead! Long live the blog!

Yes folks!

We have moved on. Time and IELTS wait for no man (or woman!).

There is a new blog, ieltstrack will limp on, neglected as ever, in cyberspace.

Those special few who tried to keep this blog alive - the ladies (of course! 'cos the guys were too busy elsewhere... ) are most welcome to join me at ieltscommunity18 on:

www.ieltstrial.blogspot.com

IELTS is a trial. Life is a trial. You are on trial for your IELTS future.

The next course will be different, so will their weblog.

Good luck everyone. You know where to find me.

Goodbye

Tony

hi tony!

hi tony!
tnx for ur kind words, it really helps to boost my self confidence. i know it's just a matter of practice and really trying hard to make it..as a matter of fact, i did visit our friendly learning zone yesterday. it's really fun and i really enjoy going there, i didn't even notice that i spent 6 hours there! huh!!! but i am still planning to go back again to spend some more time and to finish it all.
these are the results of my listening test.
1.leisure & entertainment= 7/8 - 6/8
2. language & comm. =6/8 - 6/6
3.travel,tourism,transp =4/6 - 5/7
4.environment =8/8-4/8
5.arts & culture =6/8- 8/8
6.mass media =6/8 -4/8 -- i guess i really am careless in here!
7. health & fitness =11/11 - 11/12
8. work & business = 12/12 - 10/12
9.society & social issues = 9/11 - 7/10
10. education = 14/16 - 12/16
11. dev.world = 12/15 - 13/15
12. science & tech = 13/13 - 14/15
i tried figuring out why i have low scores on some topics..carelessness. now i know how to improve it. i just make a quick look on speaking as well, next time, il try to finish reading and writing as well. if only british council is open today then i would probably go there.anyway, il just practice more of my writting. what do u think for my scores?...im not that kinda satisfied, i want much higher scores. Dear Tony,
How are you?
Thank you for your kind words regarding my IELTS score.
I would also like to thank Regie and Dr Maitha too. I am sure Regie will get the score she needs the second time because she has worked so hard. And I would like to tell Dr Maitha that she can aslo achieve the required band by working hard, practicing and listening to your advice which I think is where the success lies :-)
Yours sincerely,

hello from esjerlyn. i finally did it!!!

my score

Dear ALL
Good Morning

I got only 5.5
speaking 7, writing 6 listining 5.5 reading 4.5 only , Why I am hiding my score from a tutor & my friends. It is God Wish. I have to write the IELTS once more as our agent is not accepting this 4.5 for reading, if I got atleast 5 in reading she say it is O.K. or rest of three I have to adjust this .5 score .

If I got 5 in reading inshallah we can travel to Canada in this August as all papers are ready except this result. That means God doesn't wants this plan this year.

Really I was so upset on this result, but I am beliving everything happens in my life is as per God's wish .

So ASAP I will register for the next exam scheduled on 28th April.

Dear Tony,if I am registering with BC shall I came & use Learning Zone

Thank you for all your support

With Love & prayers

Hi Tony

Hello,
I got my scores and got an overall band of 6.5 ...
I believe I could do much better but after all I did get the band I needed, which is a 6.5 .
I did terrible in reading: 5.0
Listening : 7.5
Writing: 6.0
Speaking: 8.0
I think writing and esspecially reading pulled my grade down. I really had a hard time in reading. I was definitely upset about writing since I usually get band 7.0 . In the end, I got the band and I'm on the safe side! Not bad ey!
Thank you Tony for everything and without the courses, I don't think I would be able to get the required band!!!!!
I will keep in touch for sure!

It is Day Three: Fasten your seatbelts!

Right then!

None of this pink text colours, where are you ieltstrack non bloggers? Only ONE person has accepted my invitation and we really need to 'hit the ground running'. No excuses, you guys do not seem hungry and if that is how you want to play it, then it will be your loss! Hmm, yes each class is different! OK then, ieltswatch and Sana' - let us give them a few days to get their act together [four days without Tony are looming].

Anyway, for tonight's lesson, i-community 17 please note:
  • I would like you to bring Insight into IELTS coursebook for some Reading work
  • We shall be in the Learning Zone from 7.30 to 8.30, I shall split the class in half
  • You need your folders plus 10 subject dividers
  • We shall set up a DEBATE for Sunday
  • We shall do some SPEAKING practice
  • While the rest of the class do a Listening Test I shall interview Fakhruddin and Esjerlyn, separately in Room 1
  • I will give you back the Task One writing you did yesterday - marks ranged from 4.0 to 6.0, no one got near a 7.0 - pay great attention to the mistakes that you made (and have to correct (!) plus my comments
  • I will ask you to do the Task Two essay from that 'rubrics' sheet that I gave you as weekend homework (to hand in for Monday OR post on the weblog)
The least you can do is read this weblog daily, even if you: a) do not register; b) register but do not contribute or preferably c) register AND contribute (posts and comments)

By the way, have you been looking through www.ieltswatch.blogspot.com to see how a weblog can be dynamic and useful?

See you at 7.15, come early and get a parking or park and walk from the gardens opposite - no
YELLOW cards, please!

A bientot

Antoine

Al Salamu Alaikum,

Comment allez-vouz Tony?

Thank you very much for inviting me for the new weblog…

I hope that the new IELTS class will be eager to learn and participate in the weblog in the same way that their colleagues in last course students did.

As a former student in the IELTS course, I would like to encourage the new IELTS students to take the maximum benefit from the course and the weblog.
(Believe me; do as best as you can and you will be able to do better than what you think you can do.)
For me, it was an extraordinary experience. In fact, I worked hard and spent a lot of time studying in spite of the fact that I have too long work days. Also, I tried my best to follow up with Tony's advices and directions. All that helped me not only to pass the exam with good results but also helped me in getting more confidence in my ability to manage doing extra activities other than my work … That’s why I have already joined a course to learn French and I am planning to do more courses in the near future. Moreover, I believe that this course was of a real support for me in my work too since the English language is the main language used in my recent project..

I will stop now, I guess I wrote too much..
However, I just wanted to say, TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY AND MAKE THIS COURSE IN THE TOP OF YOUR PRIORITIES AND YOU WILL NEVER LOSE…

Wish all the students (old and new ones) all the best…

With all my best wishes for you Tony
Bonne nuit et au revoir

Sana

We are on track . . .

Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!

The latest weblog has come into existence. We go back to March 2005, do blogmember and I, and we have wondrous tales to tell of individuals who poured their hearts and souls into getting their best possible score in the dreaded IELTS exam. Some didn't make it, IELTS offers no free breakfasts and is pitiless with the nervous or unprepared.

New students will be wondering what is the purpose of this weblog. A trip through the 100+ posts from last month's course: www.ieltswatch.blogspot.com
will demonstrate how useful and cohesive the weblog can be to forge a class into a community that supports and encourages its members.

That's enough from me, soon actions will speak louder than words.

Please check your email inboxes for your invitations to join this weblog.

Best regards

Tony the Tracker
